Jeremiah 1:11-19 ~ January 27th, 2013

Passage: Jeremiah 1:11-19
Service Type:

Last Sunday the LORD spoke to us of a storm warning. We appreciate the local media updates and advisories of approaching storms, hurricanes and potential tornados; the message today is God’s warning of coming catastrophes. Before we get into the coming storm the LORD spoke to us from His Word in verse 11.
First, He reminded us of the fact that He had anointed Jeremiah, put His Word in Jeremiah’s mouth and put him over the Gentiles, verses 9-10, to bring them to the salvation. The LORD said this from His Word, 1Corinthians 10:11 which states, “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”
Jeremiah represents everything that the Church is to be. He has anointed us, Acts 1:8, and put His Gospel into our mouths, Mark 16:15, as He did His Word into the mouth of Jeremiah. In verse 11, the LORD asks Jeremiah what he sees. Jeremiah says he sees a rod of an almond tree. The rod of an almond tree speaks of the rod that Aaron had as a leader in Israel as referred to in Numbers 16-17.
When a dispute broke out among the people over who had authority among the people, the LORD had the elders of each tribe to bring their rods. Moses put them in the Tabernacle according to the instruction of the LORD. In the morning only Aaron’s rod blossomed. Now, in our verse, God tells Jeremiah to tell Him what he sees. Jeremiah looked into the words of God and saw this vision which spoke of leadership and authority.
In verses 9-10, the LORD has told Jeremiah that He has given Jeremiah this authority. In verse 12, the LORD says, “Now I will act upon your words Jeremiah that I have put in your mouth.”
In the same way, the LORD pleaded with us to see this is what He wants us as disciples to see. We must see ourselves not as mere humans but as humans with authority from God to speak, broadcast and declare the Gospel that is the power of salvation Romans 1:16.
Next, the LORD asked Jeremiah to look into His Word again and see. This time he saw a boiling pot with its face toward the north. God’s wrath on the sin of Israel in departing from Him was boiling in Babylon and was about to carry Israel away.
In the same way the LORD speaks to us that the LORD’s wrath is boiling among the population of the antichrist that have take over our country and our Church because we have turned our backs on God and allowed the takeover of the country and the Church in departing from God. The word “north” means “hidden in darkness. ” Today the antichrists that are hidden among us have come and covered the nation and the Church with their false gospel and reversed morals as Daniel 7:23-25 and Revelation 13:1-9 said would happen.
To finish His thought, in verses 17-19 the LORD tells Jeremiah to look and see in His Word that He has made him a defenced city over whom the enemy shall not prevail. The LORD Jesus said this of the Church in Matthew 16:18, “The gates of hell shall not prevail over it.”
The LORD wants us to look and see this is us. This word is to us and it is for the Christian and the Church. Look and see and let’s be that “force” that takes the kingdom of heaven, Matthew 11:12.
