November 25th, 2012 ~ Joel 1:5-17

Once again, the LORD spoke to us Joel chapter 1:5-17 revealing to us, His Church nationally, that we are “drunkards.” This of course is what He said to Israel in the scripture because they had allowed sin to bring them to a place where they were drunk on the pleasures of the world. This brought God’s judgment as visualized in this prophetic scripture as the plaque of locusts. This is the state of the Church and America today, a nation called antichrist is come up on it and has taken away the protection of our families, homes and society as Psalm 2:1-3 declares. The leaders and the people have a vain idea which is against Jesus and His anointed people, the Church. The vain idea is to take away the cords and bands of the Church, the morals and values of the LORD, so that the world will be unhindered from the binding and confining commandments of the LORD.
How could this happen? It has happened because the church is drunk with the pleasures of the world. The LORD used the illustration of Jesus going to the fig tree having leaves in Mark 11:12-13 finding that there were no figs. The tree looked beautiful and healthy but it had no fruit. That tree represented the theocracy of the nation of Israel which looked very religious but had no fruit in the world. It was the mission of Israel to reveal God as creator and reveal His glory to the world. Our nation is filled with churches with beautiful leaves having no fruit. This is the reason that the antichrist nation has accomplished its goal and has cut the cords and broken the bands of the morals of God over our nation’s morals and values. It is written in the book of Daniel 7:25, “he will wear out the saints and think to change times and laws.”
This is what is happening right now because the Church has become worthless salt. Jesus said that the Church was to be “The salt of the earth.” Salt protects meat from corruption and melts unwanted snow. Jesus said, “if the salt loses if savor (or power) it is worthless and is thrown out as worthless.” This is what the people of America have done because the Church is like the fig tree with leaves and no fruit. People desire fruit. Beauty is nice but if a fruit tree doesn’t produce fruit it is cast aside as they would say of a politician or an entertainer “just another pretty face, an empty suit” and they would look elsewhere.
In verses 14-15, the LORD gives the answer for the Church, ” Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD, Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.” It is a sad fact but much of the Church doesn’t fear the coming of the Day of the LORD. I don’t know if the Church can turn around because most of it is the “inoculate” or the “tare” church, the fig tree that has leafs but no fruit. The Church of Jesus has no fear of the coming “Day of the LORD.” They have no fear of the coming judgment of God. When we call for a solemn assembly to cry unto the LORD for repentance the multitude is drunk on the pleasures of the world. Let us as disciples cry unto the LORD and seek His face.
