Once again the LORD had us look at the person and life of Nicodemus. We first learned that he was a man that was a seeker of the LORD. He wanted to be alone with Him. He wanted to commune with Him. He had questions and knew that Jesus would give him answers. This is what Jesus wants with us.

This week we learned something new. Remember, I told you that this might sting a little but the LORD wanted to do some corrective surgery on us to make us better? The LORD first did this surgery on me then on you hopefully as you heard His Word.

Nicodemus was not a believer like most that call on the name of Jesus. He wasn’t seeking heaven. He was seeking the Kingdom of God to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. This was the LORD’s heart, Matthew 6:10. Almost all people don’t want to go to hell. In every funeral I have done, everybody is thought to be going to heaven whether they ever went to church or read the Bible or were saved. The LORD showed me that we really love life here and want to stay here and not die. But, when we die we want to go to heaven. It is as if heaven is our safety net to keep from going to hell. We don’t know much about heaven. We just know we don’t want to go to hell. The main point in what the LORD is showing us is that we love this world more than we love heaven or the Kingdom of heaven. We love this world where God’s kingdom is not come and His will is not done. The LORD speaks from His Word 1 Jn. 2:15-17 "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever."

The history of the ancient Church of the first three centuries after Christ, shows that the heart and mind of the people of God was on going to the Kingdom of God, seeing it come on earth that God’s will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. We need to take the verse above and bring our mind and life before it and see if we love this world, repent and do as Colossians 3:1, 2 says, "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."

If this didn’t sting maybe you had better check and see if you’re truly alive in Christ Jesus
