In John 15:16, Jesus spoke declaring that He had chosen us.  We had not chosen Him.  That is like you having a favorite sports team that you have picked but they do not know you or allow you to participate with them in their enterprise.  You have been chosen by the greatest of all, chosen to participate in His Kingdom work.  Before time when there was no creation, the LORD saw into the time that you exist and saw that you who are disciples would one day hear the gospel, would turn away from the world and give your life to the LORD to follow Him.  So before time, He called the disciples His “Chosen, Elect.”  He said that we need to look at ourselves differently than we do.  We generally see ourselves as unworthy, unable, ashamed, and incapable to be a servant of God, like Gideon in Judges 6:12-18.

When the LORD sent His angel to tell Gideon that he was going to lead God’s people to victory over the enemies, Gideon replied, “And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.”   The LORD has called us, chosen us to go with the Gospel of Jesus Christ to make disciples that shall remain.  Most who call themselves Christians think that they are not able to do this, this must be done by preachers and evangelists.  Look at this, think about this.  The LORD chose you to do this and you think He is wrong?  The LORD wants you to believe Him.  He is saying to you that He has chosen you because He knows you are able you are worthy because you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  He has given you the ability and power in His Holy Spirit at your New Birth.

If we take the Gospel to people and not the plan of man or the offer of being a member in our church, the Gospel will make fruit, disciples that will remain.  He has given you the Gospel and His Spirit that your fruit, disciples, will remain that He MAY give you what you ask for in this endeavor.  This fruit will remain.  This is Eternal Security.  When they become fruit by the Gospel, they are saved and sealed for the LORD forever.

In verses 18-19, the Lord said something very profound, “but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”  Did you hear it, see it?  Ask yourself, “Why will the world hate me?”  The answer to that question is the truth that the LORD is showing us.  Look at it again and see that the world will hate us because we are like Jesus in our lifestyle.  They hate Jesus’ righteous life that proves man can live according to the Laws of God.  But know this, truth shows that the New Birth, the New Creation spoken of in scripture is true.  There will be a change in a Christian’s life.  They will begin to follow the life of Jesus which the world hates.  Many Christians today have lost this truth.  They see nothing wrong with living like the world.  For the most part they think is impossible.  This scripture proves that we can.  The proof is that the world will hate our lifestyle because we are truly converted and follow the teachings and life of Jesus.
