The LORD spoke to us from His Holy Word last Sunday from John 14:4-6. Here, Jesus said that He was going away and that they knew the way to which Thomas replied, “LORD we don’t know where you are going so how can we know the way?”  Why did Christ tell them they knew where He was going and the way if He knew that they did not know where and how He was going, even though He had told them on numerous occasions?  He did this to point out that they had not listened to Him with an open heart but rather they heard, through their religious prejudice, what they wanted to hear.  Now, He declares to them this most important of all facts about who He is and what He is doing.  He is the way to the Father.

We are sinners and there is no way that sinners may come into the presence of the Father.  Sinners are enemies of God who have been sentenced to hell and the Lake of Fire, Revelation 20:11-14.  All that do not believe that Christ saves shall not see life with God.  The wrath of God abides on them, John 3: 36.  The only way we may enter into heaven to be with God is that our sin is taken away.  There is no way that we can take away our sin.  We are hopelessly sinners and cannot, on our own, change or do enough good works to cancel out our sin.  So the only way to heaven to be with the Father is that somehow our sin is removed.

This is the Grace and the Love of God for He loves us so much that He gives His only begotten Son, Jesus, as a sacrificial lamb, John 3:16.  God had given the sacrifice of an animal to be atonement or covering for sin, Leviticus 17:11.  That did not make a way into the kingdom of heaven.  It only covered sin.  The coming of Jesus the Christ/Messiah, the Son of God was given as a sacrificial lamb to take away the sin of mankind thus making the way to the Father through Jesus.  On the cross this way was opened.  2 Corinthians 5:21 declares that on the cross, the Father made Jesus sin for us; He took the sin of the world upon Himself and suffered the wrath and death of God in our place for our sin that we may receive His righteousness and enter into heaven.

Jesus is the truth of life and salvation.  There are many religious ideas and many old wives tales and family advices about the mystery of God and His salvation but there is only one correct knowledge of the complete mystery of God.  Jesus, before He humbled Himself and came down to earth to be the Son and Savior of God, was the Word of God.  All that is was created and spoken into existence by the Word of God before He was Jesus, John 1:1-14.  So, Jesus is the truth of the mystery and life of God, John 8:31-32.  Jesus is the life of God.  The Life of God is eternal.  Jesus is alive.  He rose from the grave and Hell in triumph and poured out the gift of God’s eternal life to those that will receive Him, Romans 6:23.  When we receive Him we are Born of The Spirit of God.  The eternal life of God dwells in us.  We are sealed by His eternal Spirit.  If we sin, He convicts us to confess and be cleansed.  He keeps us by His life Romans 5:10, 1 John 1:9, 1 Peter 1:5.  This is eternal life through Jesus.
