Last week in John 14:21 the LORD declared an alarming and disturbing reality that shows us that the Christianity we know is not as we have thought it to be.  We have thought and been taught that to be a Christian only takes believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  In this verse we learn that only those that have His commandments, know His commandments and keep them belong to Him and are in the kingdom of God.  This goes with Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven: but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in Heaven.” Also 2Thessalonians 1:7-8, “. . . Taking vengeance on them that know not God and obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  The LORD showed us the disturbing truth that the Church has been compromised and just as Jude verse 4 says the gospel has been changed to be something for lasciviousness, the lust for things.

I have said to you that in my study of the biblical church compared to the public church I have found that during the first part of the last century the true church mutated, meaning changed its form.  Before I go on I want to explain that the scriptures above in no way constitute a “Works” doctrine or having to work for your salvation.  What they reveal is that when one has truly repented and received Christ there will be a change in the direction of their life and the Spirit of Christ, the power of God that they received in the “New Birth” will seek to know the commandments of the one they love, Christ Jesus.  Today the modern definition of love is that of romantic love “eros” erotic.  But true love springs from reverence to devotion and obedience.  This is the love that we receive in a true conversion.  This love leads us to devote ourselves to the love to our Savior’s commandments that we may follow Him.

Now return to the subject of the mutating of the church.  In verse 21 Jesus says that those that have His commandments and keep them and . . .”I will manifest Myself to them.”  This is the evidence of the Life of Christ Jesus in the soul that has His Spirit, His commandments.  They follow the LORD.  They think and act by His commandments not by the ways of the world.

Next, in verse 23 Jesus says that only those that have His commandments will have the saving life of the Holy Spirit.  The Father and Jesus in the Holy Spirit will only come if we have His “Words” same as commandments or teachings.  This is why I continue to proclaim salvation to Christians because most are close, they love Jesus, they have believed what was told them that all they have to do is believe but they have not been told what Jesus has said in these verses.  I have preached feeling the LORD crying out to you to repent and be willing to turn and follow the teachings, the commands of Jesus and the LORD will give you the Holy Spirit.  You will be able and willing to follow the one you love.  But, if you chose to stay as you are not knowing the teachings of Jesus, the commandments of God, living by what you think is right, know this that your destiny is 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8.  Don’t blame God because He has done all that He could to get you to turn and repent and come to Him.
