John 12:1-11 ~ January 8, 2012

What did the LORD say to us last Sunday?  Are you good ground for the seed of God, the Word of God planted by the Holy Ghost or are you like those on the wayside who paid no attention to it after they heard it and let the devil come take it away?  This is shown to us in Matthew 13:1-23.

Last Sunday the LORD spoke to all of us but only some heard.  Whatever the LORD says is life and health to our flesh, Proverbs 4:20.  Let’s review what He said that you may receive the health and strength to your flesh.

The LORD took the occasion of the supper that was prepared for Jesus, his disciples and Apostles that were coming to Jerusalem for the Passover (John 12:1- 2, 9-11) to teach the great truths of the Gospel.  The scripture talks about Lazarus who had been dead for four days.  Jesus had brought him back from the dead fully restored to good health.  A great truth of the Gospel is that Jesus is the Resurrection and the life as He had told Martha, Lazarus’ sister, John 11:25-27.  If we know this we will give ourselves to be “In Jesus.”  The scripture tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, “I would not that you be ignorant concerning those that are asleep (Dead) as those that have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them which sleep (dead) in Jesus will God bring with Him.”  This is the word of faith of the Gospel, the good news.  If we receive this truth, it is health to our flesh.  Our soul will be at peace and have faith that being “In Jesus” we have eternal Life.

Next, Jesus taught us about “Abraham’s Bosom” and “Paradise.”  The scripture says that many came not only to see Jesus but to see Lazarus.  They wanted to know what happened to him while he was gone to the dead.  All of mankind wants to know the answer to that question.  Volumes of books and scientific studies have tried to understand this mystery.  Lazarus had the answer.  He had experienced death and the afterlife and Jesus gave us the answer last Sunday.  He told us of the place called “Abraham’s Bosom”, Luke 16:22.  This was the place that all of those that died believing in the coming Messiah and practicing the Law of God in faithof His coming went to wait until a place was made for them in Heaven.

Remember that Jesus said in John 14:1-2 that He was going to make a place for us.  There was no place in Heaven for sinners and all who believed or didn’t believe still have sin, Romans 3:23.  Jesus went to the cross to take our sin away, the perfect sacrifice for sin.  When Jesus was on the cross he took the sin of mankind upon Himself and paid the penalty for our sin.  With this being done, there was a place in heaven.  Until this happened, all believers went to Abraham’s Bosom to wait.  There they were alive and well without sickness or disease.  Because Lazarus knew this, many believed on Jesus.  This is Good News that should bless us.  I hope you will receive the seed of His Word and “Go”, Matthew 28:19-20. Tell others that they will believe and receive and be in Jesus.
