John 11:25-46 ~ December 11, 2011

Last Sunday the LORD spoke to us from John 11:25-46.  We began with the grand declaration from Him about eternal Life.  The Lord said that He was the Resurrection and the Life for everyone that believes. That is, trusts in Him as your savior who delivered you from the judgment of sin by taking your place on the cross, the judgment and wrath of God for sin, and rely in Him in what He has said about life.  He took us to 1 Thessalonians 4:13 and gave us assurance from His Word.  He said, “I would not have you to be ignorant concerning them which are asleep. . .”  On the word “ignorant”, the LORD spoke to us of the great ignorance of the Church, of Christians.  Most Christians have a very limited recollection of God’s Holy Word, the Scriptures.  How are we going to follow Christ if we do not know what He is saying as He leads us?

The LORD took us to Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him…..”  How can you acknowledge Him if you don’t know what His Word says?  Yes, He will lead you in everything by speaking to you by His Word through the Holy Spirit.  The LORD says so many Christians say His Word is boring or it tells us things that we don’t want to hear.  How can you have a relationship without hearing and following the LORD?  How can you have salvation without a relationship with the LORD by hearing Him and following Him? The Church of Jesus in America is ignorant by not knowing their need of having a relationship with the one they call their savior.

I fear for them that one day the LORD will say as He did in Matthew 7:23, “Depart from me you lawless ones, I never knew you.”  I never had a relationship with you.  You are lawless, not knowing My Law, only knowing your own understanding.  This is what the LORD said with such passion, “Not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Back in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, He says He does not want us to ignorant concerning them that are asleep or dead.  He does not want us to be like the heathen that have no hope of the afterlife.  They just live for today.  They live to have all the pleasures of life because when they die they believe they cease to exist.  This is so sad because God in His Holy Word the Scriptures warns us that there is a hell.  Hell is an eternal place where life does not cease to exist but goes on in torture Mark 9:43-49 & Revelation 14:9-11.  The LORD floods my heart with these words “I endured the shame and agony of the cross and the shame of the sin of the world upon my own holy being to keep you from hell I plead with you to repent and receive my salvation and my life by being Born Again and filled with My Spirit.”
