John 10:22-26 ~ November 6, 2011

Last Sunday, I had three things that I was to deliver to you that the LORD had shown me.  Because of the importance of the first one and my feeling I needed to really emphasize it, we did not get to the other two.  That we will do next Sunday.  Last Sunday, the LORD spoke to us from John 10:22-26.  In these verses we see the continued defiance of the religious leaders to see and acknowledge that Jesus is the Messiah/Savior.  They came around Him in verses 23-24 much like the famous Caesar, the Roman Emperor centuries before.  His fellow leaders surrounded him as he was in the entrance to the Senate.  Brutus his close friend was the first to stab him.  Then they all stabbed him, killing him.  These leaders like Caesar’s had already determined to kill Jesus.  They were waiting for a time when no one would see.  They rejected Him even though they knew that He was the Messiah, Matthew 21:33-43, John 9:39-41.

This is the main thing that Jesus was speaking to us about.  Jesus knew that these leaders were not of those that would receive Him.  They were not of the Elect, but, He wants to show us His heart for the scripture that, “The LORD is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance”, 2 Peter 3:9.  These were religious leaders.  They knew doctrine.  They believed the Bible and could quote it, yet they would not come to Him that they might be saved, John.5:39-40.  Many people in Churches are like this.  Christ today is using this scripture to plead with them.  There are those in churches who know how to be in the form of religion but do not hear the LORD; they do not have a personal relationship with Him.

The LORD spoke to us of the danger of being like this, knowing who He is and not committing to receive Him, John 1:12 and follow Him John 8:12.  He took us to Hebrews 6:4-6 and showed us that the Holy Spirit is calling everyone.  He is enlightening everyone about Jesus and giving them a taste of the Heavenly gift of eternal Life.  Once tasting that good Word of God and the powers of the world to come through the Holy Ghost, IF they should fall away, lose faith looking back at the world and the life they once lived, soon the darkness and the hardening of the heart will come, Ephesians 4:17-19.  As the scripture says Hebrews 3:12-13, Jesus warns us and exhorts us that if we persist and do not listen to the Holy Spirit and allow the darkness to come and harden us, It Is Impossible to renew us again to repentance leaving us destined for hell. Just as in Hebrews 3, many came out of Egypt but only a few went into the Promise Land.

I say this with a heavy heart there are some in our own congregation that are in danger of this happening to them. Jesus is pleading with you to, “Lay down your life and receive the Life of Jesus”, Matthew 16:24.  Please come and talk with me.
